How do I get started?

You may apply for the BS in Airline Transport Pilot License or Professional Pilot Program of your choice.  After submitting the required documents on the Application for Admission, you’ll be guided accordingly for your enrollment.  The process is quite simple, however, there are additional requirements that you must meet which is required by law in order to attain the licenses required.

What are the types of pilot license and ratings?

The Student Pilot License is the first license to be issued once you started your flying lessons.  You have the privilege to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft, however, you’re not permitted to carry passenger(s) – solo flight.  During solo flight you’ll only be the sole occupant and manipulator of the controls of the aircraft you’re flying.

The Private Pilot License will be granted to you after completing the student pilot stage and after passing the required examination of the civil aviation authority.  You’ll be eligible to fly as pilot-in-command of an aircraft carrying passengers but not for revenue or hire.  It means that you’re not allowed to fly or be employed in commercial flight operations such as air charter, airline operations, etc.

The Commercial Pilot License is your first step to being a full pledge pilot.  After finishing your private pilot training and passing the required examination of the civil aviation authority, you’ll be entitled for a commercial pilot license.  This gives you the privilege to be hired by charter, airline companies, or any other commercial flight operations.  There may be additional qualifications such as flight time, ratings, age, and other requirements of the company you’re applying to, but at least you’ve got your ticket to your pilot career.

The Instrument Rating is one of the most important tickets for commercial pilots.  This rating permits the pilot to fly in instrument meteorological condition (IMC) by reference on instrument indications and radio navigation without depending on visual reference.  You’re required to undergo special training to qualify for the requirements of the civil aviation authority.

Additional Aircraft Rating is an endorsement allowing you to fly another type or class of aircraft such as complex, high performance, multi-engine, or different type of which you’re unfamiliar with.  After meeting the proficiency requirements then you’re granted the privilege to legally fly the aircraft.

The Flight Instructor’s License gives you the privilege to teach students to fly.  Since this is a different type of flying that requires precision and ability to teach, training is required to meet the qualifications of a flight instructor.  By law, you’re required to hold at least a commercial pilot license with additional flight time requirement before you can apply for the said license.

The Airline Transport Pilot License is the highest license issued by the civil aviation authority.  You’ll be eligible to act as pilot-in-command of transport category aircraft used by airlines, corporate, or any other commercial flight operations requiring well-experienced and qualified pilots.  Flight time requirements of 1,500.0 hours, at least commercial pilot license holder with instrument rating, and other requirements needed to attain an airline transport pilot license.

Do I need to have A+ on my grades to become a pilot?

We’ll it helps if you’re bright.  But being bright and not being smart is a different story.  The worst is if you’re bright but your attitude is different.  More than 50 percent of your training deals more on your attitude and the rest is your knowledge and skills.  Being bright gives you more leverage in attaining the aeronautical knowledge and skills easily.  With the right attitude, who you become from what you’ve learned is being smart.

Does the school train like military pilot training?

“No doughnuts nor push-ups”.  It means we don’t spoon-feed our student nor we do physical contact to implement discipline.  Physical contact in the form of yelling, yanking the controls, or hitting the student during flight is an “old school” discipline.  Our philosophy of discipline is to instill what is right to the student’s mind so he/she will carry it throughout his/her career even without supervision.

Can I still fly even I have physical disability?

Depending on your physically disability, if it does not hinder you to drive a normal bicycle or a manual transmission car then you still have a chance.  If you think you’re fit to fly then you may consult an authorized flight surgeon.

What are the pay and benefits?

The pay and benefits differ in every type of flying (flight instructional, charter, airline, corporate, etc) and the company you’re employed in.  Experience also counts, giving you the leverage in bidding for a higher position that correlates to a higher pay scheme and additional benefits.

Flight Instructors have an average salary from US $500.00 to 2,000.00 per month, while airline pilots from US $1,500.00 to 10,000.00 (vary with various factors), and corporate from US $3,000.00 to 15,000.00 per month.  These rates are only average values and are not accurate due to several factors affecting pilot’s pay and benefits.
