Aviation Training One International is an advocate for “Green Environment”. Our practices ensure that we protect our environment by reducing unnecessary waste and other factors which significantly affect global warming. We educate our students on how to protect the environment we lived in. The following practices are:
First, we used pure aviation gasoline (100/130 Octane Rating) specified by the aircraft manufacturer. It provides better combustion burning completely the fuel/air mixture in the cylinder, therefore, giving clean emission. While the substitute fuel used by vehicles (mobile gasoline or MOGAS for short) does not offer the same efficiency during the combustion process leaving unburned fuel (in gaseous form) exiting through the exhaust manifold. This unburned fuel mixes with the air and creates pollution in the environment.
Second, proper engine operating procedures such as leaning the mixture does not only save fuel but gives off clean emission. To rich a mixture setting produces more emission than a lean mixture setting. It saves money and helps our environment.
Third, low power setting on flight logically decreases fuel burned during combustion and reduces emission. It considerably cuts unnecessary expenses and reduces pollution. The Pilot’s Operating Handbook of most general aviation aircraft trainer have fuel savings procedures for flight training operations. An example is the Cessna 152 POH on Section 4, page 4-16.
Fourth, dumping fuel on the ground during visual inspection is illegal. The chemical content of fuel which is poisonous can’t be removed easily. The living organism such as plants and animals intoxicated by the waste produces carbon dioxide during decomposition. Fuel drained from the fuel tanks must be place in a recycle bin or container and can be use again after being filtered.
